The 76th Annual IAMPETH Conference in Norfolk Virginia is quickly approaching! Get excited for a coastal calligraphy getaway with classes in areas such as gesso gilding, gothicized italic, offhand flourishing and a deep dive into the recently acquired Henning Collection.

NEW THIS YEAR

Coastal Calligraphy, Juried IAMPETH Members Art Show: Open to all skill levels, this members-only art show is a celebration of our calligraphy community. All qualified entries will be accepted into the show and will be on display at the conference. An evening event showcasing the work will be open to the public to share our love for the lettering arts with the local community. Submission information will be available in the registration book. Domestic and international entries will be accepted.

Intensive Engrosser’s Script and Spencerian Script classes: We will have small intensive classes for Engrosser’s Script and Spencerian Script to allow for a detailed examination of each hand. Each class will have 25 spots available for intermediate and advanced students only. Entrance into the class will require a sample writing submission before registration. Introductory classes will also be available for each script on the same day. Information will be available later this month.

Beach Calligraphy Field Trip:

We couldn’t have a conference on the coast without a trip to the beach! Andrew van der Merwe will join us from South Africa for a small class that starts at the beach for drawing in the sand and ends at the conference center to connect the whole body movement with writing. Transportation will be provided.
